How to apply
Complete the following three documents and submit to WorkCover Tasmania:
- Application for accreditation form (GF020)
- Tasmanian core module (permanent impairment assessment training package)
- Assessment cover sheet (training module by correspondence)
An independent specialist engaged by WorkCover will assess these.
WorkCover will notify you by post if you are successful.
Specialising in specific body systems
Beyond the minimum requirement of the Tasmanian Core module, there are training modules for each major bodily system.
We recommend you complete the module(s) relating to your specialty or area of practice, to give you the best information for assessing the types of impairments you're likely to treat. You may complete as many modules as you wish.
These specialty modules outline the appropriate methodologies to use when assessing permanent impairment in a specific body system. These are:
- the cardiovascular system
- the digestive system
- the endocrine system
- the ear, nose and throat (including hearing loss)
- the haematopoietic system
- lower extremities
- upper extremities
- the nervous system
- psychiatric and psychological disorders
- the respiratory system
- the skin
- the urinary and reproductive systems
- the visual system
The modules are completed by correspondence, to get the training material, email WorkCover or call 1300 366 322.
These modules use and refer to the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment Version 4 — except the Respiratory System, which is based on Version 5.
Training from other providers
WorkCover will recognise training you have done with other providers, as long as you provide:
- evidence from the training provider that specifies the module
- the AMA version (see note below) and
- the date completed.
A copy of a certificate or a statement from the training provider is sufficient.
Note about AMA versions
WorkCover Tasmania currently operates under AMA version 4. Other states use different versions (5 or 6).
While we do recognise these, there are specific Tasmanian modules that we strongly encourage you to complete the completion of our correspondence training.
