Lisa Hutton

Lisa was appointed Secretary of the Department of Justice in April 2007. Before this she was Deputy Secretary (since July 2004).

Lisa has a wealth of experience within government. She worked on many governance reforms in the 1990s while employed in senior roles in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. She has worked in the Department of Justice since 2003.


Robert Gozzi

Bob has extensive experience in employment and workplace matters, including work health and safety, from when he was the Personnel Manager for Cadbury Schweppes in Tasmania. He was also an executive board member of the Tasmanian Chamber of Industries, including being Vice President, Deputy President and President. He served on many committees, including as Chair of the Workers Compensation and Allied Matters Committee.

Bob was appointed as an inaugural Commissioner of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission where he held a diverse range of private industry and public sector portfolios. As well as deliberating on industrial matters, Bob conciliated on many work health and safety issues before the Commission.

He was the catalyst for the reformation of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's work health and safety committee in 2007, providing policy advice to the TCCI. This committee comprises wide industry representation, and engages with current work health and safety stakeholders on matters such as the national harmonisation of work health and safety laws.

Bob has been actively involved with Tasmanian industry for many years. This includes being a board member of the State Bicentenary Advisory Committee, Metals Industry Advisory Group, Apprenticeship Commission, Automotive Engineering and Manufacturing Industry Training Board, The Hutchins Foundation Ltd (as President), Australian Football Foundation Board, Police Disciplinary Appeals Board and Director of UTAS Innovation. He is a current Director of the Metal Industry Association of Tasmania, chairs the Bell Bay Industry Group and is on the George Town Trade Training Centre and Business Hobart Steering Committees. He holds a Diploma in Public Administration and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Damon Thomas

Damon has been CEO of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ombudsman, Electricity Ombudsman, Freedom of Information Commissioner, and Health Complaints Commissioner for Tasmania.

He is a barrister and solicitor to the Supreme Court of Tasmania, solicitor to the High Court of Australia, and a Fellow with the Australian Institute of Management.

He holds the honorary positions of Board member for the National Heart Foundation, Vice President of the Australian Institute of Management, and board member of the Cancer Council of Tasmania.

Damon's qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Laws, and Diploma of Company Administration. He has skills in negotiation, advanced communication and conciliation.

Peter Tullgren

Peter is Industrial Officer for the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union.


Leigh Mackey

Leigh is a partner with Ogilvie, Jennings, Barristers and Solicitors. She is experienced in personal injury litigation, with an emphasis in the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal and the Tasmanian Supreme Court.

She has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, and certificates pursuant to the Legal Practitioners Act 1959. She was admitted as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania and High Court of Australia in 1992. She is a member of the Tasmanian Law Society, the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Association, and the Tasmanian Bar Association.

Leigh has extensive experience in the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995; often advising on, interpreting, and promoting understanding in these areas.

 

Robert Walters

Rob is very active in the area of GP education. He has prepared the medical profession to meet the performance and management requirements of workers who suffer a workplace injury or illness. He has worked closely with staff to implement medical practitioner accreditation. He has also recently been involved in negotiating with the Tasmanian medical profession for implementing more appropriate systems of certification, designed to develop consistency and clear definitions in identifying and managing workplace injuries and illnesses.


Penny Le Couteur

Penny is an experienced non-executive director with proven strategic thinking, leadership, governance, marketing and management skills. Her industry experience covers workers compensation, compulsory third party and private health insurance, banking, education, government, professional associations and management consulting.

She is currently Chair of Employers Mutual Limited (since 2004), Deputy Chair of Motor Accidents Authority of NSW and Motor Accidents Council (since 2002), Deputy Chair, Home Warranty Insurance Scheme Board NSW and Home Building Advisory Council (since 2006), Director of Uniting Church Trust Authority (since 2004), President of KU Childrens Services (since 2004), and member of the Fair Trading Advisory Council NSW (since 2006).
