
Return-to-work program
A return-to-work program may include
- alternative duties and
- graduated return-to-work
Any of the following may be involved in helping the worker return-to-work
- the treating doctor - looks after the injury and has an important role in the return-to-work program
- rehabilitation provider - provides specialist input to successfully return the worker to full employment
- the employer – if the employer has a rehabilitation co-ordinator that person will liaise with all the people involved in the return-to-work program
- the insurer/self-insurer - provides financial support
- the union - can advise on rights and
- the worker will also be involved
Services provided by a service provider may include
- initial assessment
- support counselling
- vocational counselling
- case management
- liaison with all involved and
- advice on other work possibilities
How can you be referred to rehabilitation services?
- the treating doctor can refer you
- the employer can refer you
- the insurer/self-insurer can refer you or
- you can refer yourself
