Guideline to completing workers compensation medical certificates correctly
WorkCover has developed a new medical practitioner guideline for completing workers compensation medical certificates. This guideline provides medical practitioners with greater clarification on how to use the new certificates.
The guideline provides clarification on:
- the purpose of each field
- how the certificates should be completed
- the standard of information that should be provided
- examples of common errors
This guideline has been developed in conjunction with local and interstate medical practitioners and sets out the minimum standard expected when completing certificates. It provides the necessary guidance for completing certificates correctly, and ensures that WorkCover’s expectations for completing certificates are clearly communicated and understood.
Medical practitioners are encouraged to review the guidelines and where any inconsistencies may be identified between their current practices and those set out in the guidelines, make the appropriate adjustments.
