About the Board

The WorkCover Tasmania Board

  • promotes prompt and effective injury management
  • promotes safer and healthier workplaces, through practical information and personal guidance
  • manages the workers compensation scheme and monitors the performance of scheme participants.

It also provides advice to the Minister for Workplace Relations on the policy, objectives and effectiveness of Tasmania’s workers rehabilitation and compensation and workplace health and safety legislation.

The Board was established in July 2001 following amendments to the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988. The WorkCover Branch gives effect to the decisions of the Board to achieve the Board’s strategic direction.
